Bless his heart. He HATES when I take pictures of him. Hates it. But he still lets me because I beg him. And I cook for him. And he loves me. :-) And this time I begged a whole lot, and convinced him to let me post a few of the pictures I took. I think he’s dang good-looking…but that’s just me. :-) I know a few of you in particular that are going to make fun of him for this *cough, cough,Robert, cough, cough*. Just go easy on him. He had no idea he’d end up in front of the camera so much when he married me.
So, I’m sure by now you’ve noticed the new look on the website. Logo design props go to Zach Williams. If you’re interested in having some graphic design work done, I totally recommend him. Email me and I’ll put you in touch with him.
With the new and improved look, I decided to order some new and improved business cards. I did a lot of searching around online for good quality cards before landing on premiumcards.net. I had read a ton of good reviews, I liked what I saw on their site, I was really impressed with the sample pack they sent me, so I decided to place my order. I placed the order last Tuesday night (Jan. 5th), and I received my finished cards on Monday (Jan.11). Less than a week to process a custom designed business card, print it, pack it, and ship it. That’s amazing.
So Monday…I get the package, I open it, and I’m blown away. Check out this coolness:
A little hand modeling by Jake:
So while I was getting that last shot, I brought Sam outside with me. Because he LOVES to go outside. He has a vocabulary that consists of the following words: outside, treat, ride, potty, and NO. He’s not the brightest little chihuahua, but without a doubt, he knows what those words mean. I digress… Anyway, he was a little curious about what the heck I was doing, and I ended up with this picture. It makes me smile. :-)
A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to participate in a group shoot with several other photographers who were in New Orleans for a conference. The amazingly talented Mark Eric organized the whole thing and arranged for some models (read: soon to be brides with no prior modeling experience) and make-up artists. It was a bit overwhelming at times with so many professional photographers out there doing their thing, but I really enjoyed it and I learned a lot about how different people interact with their models/clients. I was a bit timid in the midst of so much talent, but I was able to grab a few shots that make me happy. I’ll share those with you here. Have I mentioned that these people are not professional models? They were fabulous!
I’ve been a little slack about getting things blogged over the holidays. I had so many things that I was trying to get done so that people could get their pictures ordered for Christmas, and then I was moving, and then I was dealing with life without a working bathroom, and then…well, needless to say, blogging has unfortunately gotten pushed aside for a bit.
I’m getting back on track, though.
These are a few pictures I took of a very dear friend of mine (also a photographer) and her family one afternoon. I won’t tell you how old her baby is now…I’m a little embarrassed that I’m just now blogging these. Suffice it to say that the pregnancy finished well, and baby Mia is is a healthy, happy “several-week-old” now. ;-)
So many things I love about these pictures…the beautiful mother, the big brother who looks out for his baby brother, the baby brother who obviously loves his big brother, the house, and oh-my-gosh the LIGHT! First of all, the beautiful mother…
And then the baby brother (who couldn’t quite decide whether or not he liked the idea of me being around)…
And finally the big brother…
And when little brother got upset, guess who was the one to cheer him up…
I am in love with this picture…
I think I’m even more in love with these…
Soooo, while we’re walking around taking pictures, Mandy (mom) mentions to me that she bribed her older son to participate in this picture-taking excursion by promising him that he could have his picture taken with his new Christmas present…
Not to worry. It’s just a BB gun. He insisted that you weren’t supposed to smile while taking a picture with a gun, and he did give it his best effort, but there’s just something about trying NOT to smile that seems to guarantee that you WILL smile…
Something strange and unfortunate is going on with my email right now, and I’m not able to receive anything. If you need to contact me, leave a comment on this post. We’re working to get things back up as soon as possible!
8th Grade. Amanda and I met and became friends. Somewhere along the line she started dating Tripp Dawson (who I didn’t think was near good enough for her at the time…but then nobody ever is right? :-) ) Our friendship lasted through 10th grade when I moved to another school, but then we didn’t really see each other much after that. Fast forward almost 10 years…my mom is a teacher at another local elementary school and tells me that they’ve hired a new Kindergarten teacher—Amanda Dawson.
Of course she’s just as beautiful as she was in high school, and now has two beautiful daughters as well. Oh, and Tripp turned out to be a pretty great husband (and father!) after all. :-)
