Oh, snap.

I don’t think Laura and Rick ever stop laughing. Or looking at each other. Laura’s love of historic Pensacola led us to Historic Pensacola Village for their engagement shoot, and she entertained us with stories of scandal & romance from centuries ago as we walked around.

Such a fun day with two wonderful people…I can’t wait for their wedding this Spring!

We don’t get snow much ’round these parts. Everyone I know can tell you all about the “blizzard of ‘93″ but other than a few unusually heavy and whitish looking rain drops every couple of winters, we haven’t really seen any snow since then. Until today. It was gorgeous! I know it doesn’t even compare to what people further up the east coast have been getting, but for us, it was a winter wonderland. Seeing as how I don’t get the opportunity all that often, I really wanted to jump on the chance to do a snowy portrait session. Enter Sarah. She got all prettied up and braved the cold and wet just so I could have a little fun (I always forget that snow is wet…it just looks so pretty and powdery). I LOVE these pictures, too. I think it’s because it’s a scene that I don’t get very often–if ever–and it just seems so fairy tale like. I love it! Thanks, Sarah (and Brook & Jeremy for letting us use your house…again)!

P.S. – WE (as in, Jake and I) actually got to experience the beautiful snow last December in New Orleans. So while Flomaton, AL hasn’t seen snow in umpteen years, we actually did get to enjoy it just last year. We’re just lucky, I guess.
Bless his heart. He HATES when I take pictures of him. Hates it. But he still lets me because I beg him. And I cook for him. And he loves me. :-) And this time I begged a whole lot, and convinced him to let me post a few of the pictures I took. I think he’s dang good-looking…but that’s just me. :-) I know a few of you in particular that are going to make fun of him for this *cough, cough,Robert, cough, cough*. Just go easy on him. He had no idea he’d end up in front of the camera so much when he married me.

So, I’m sure by now you’ve noticed the new look on the website. Logo design props go to Zach Williams. If you’re interested in having some graphic design work done, I totally recommend him. Email me and I’ll put you in touch with him.
With the new and improved look, I decided to order some new and improved business cards. I did a lot of searching around online for good quality cards before landing on premiumcards.net. I had read a ton of good reviews, I liked what I saw on their site, I was really impressed with the sample pack they sent me, so I decided to place my order. I placed the order last Tuesday night (Jan. 5th), and I received my finished cards on Monday (Jan.11). Less than a week to process a custom designed business card, print it, pack it, and ship it. That’s amazing.
So Monday…I get the package, I open it, and I’m blown away. Check out this coolness:

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to participate in a group shoot with several other photographers who were in New Orleans for a conference. The amazingly talented Mark Eric organized the whole thing and arranged for some models (read: soon to be brides with no prior modeling experience) and make-up artists. It was a bit overwhelming at times with so many professional photographers out there doing their thing, but I really enjoyed it and I learned a lot about how different people interact with their models/clients. I was a bit timid in the midst of so much talent, but I was able to grab a few shots that make me happy. I’ll share those with you here. Have I mentioned that these people are not professional models? They were fabulous!

I’ve been a little slack about getting things blogged over the holidays. I had so many things that I was trying to get done so that people could get their pictures ordered for Christmas, and then I was moving, and then I was dealing with life without a working bathroom, and then…well, needless to say, blogging has unfortunately gotten pushed aside for a bit.
I’m getting back on track, though.
These are a few pictures I took of a very dear friend of mine (also a photographer) and her family one afternoon. I won’t tell you how old her baby is now…I’m a little embarrassed that I’m just now blogging these. Suffice it to say that the pregnancy finished well, and baby Mia is is a healthy, happy “several-week-old” now. ;-)

So many things I love about these pictures…the beautiful mother, the big brother who looks out for his baby brother, the baby brother who obviously loves his big brother, the house, and oh-my-gosh the LIGHT! First of all, the beautiful mother…

And then the baby brother (who couldn’t quite decide whether or not he liked the idea of me being around)…

And finally the big brother…

Soooo, while we’re walking around taking pictures, Mandy (mom) mentions to me that she bribed her older son to participate in this picture-taking excursion by promising him that he could have his picture taken with his new Christmas present…
