Some thoughts on the end of summer

It may still be hot outside, and Fall may not OFFICIALLY start until the end of September, but as far as I’m concerned right now, the summer is coming to an end. Tomorrow will be the last day of Summer Camp at Grace (which means I’ll get my husband back); kids start back to school next week; Jake starts his last (hopefully!) semester of school in two weeks. *sigh* I enjoy the natural progression of seasons. I’m not looking forward to freezing cold weather, but I do like being able move forward. Make transitions. Watch some things end and other things begin. I like that life doesn’t remain exactly the same all the time.

There’s something of a feeling of satisfaction in being able to look forward to something (i.e., get really stressed out about it, in Diana’s world), see it through to completion, and then look back on it. I feel that way about the weddings that I’ve had the opportunity to shoot this spring/summer. Before the first one? TOTALLY stressed out. But when the day finally came, it was perfect. I was by no means perfect, but the wedding itself was. The rest have been the same way. I’m learning that the beauty of the wedding does NOT rest on me or my ability to make it beautiful. It already IS beautiful. The BRIDE is beautiful. The DAY is beautiful. The LOVE between two people, and among families is beautiful. With or without me there, the wedding is going to be beautiful. It’s just my responsibility to skillfully and accurately document that beauty in pictures. Realizing that has taken away some of the stress for me (some…not all).

I’ll be photographing Willy & Melissa’s wedding next weekend, and I’m so excited about it. They impress me. I can’t wait to see the culmination of all of the planning and preparing that has gone into this wedding. I’m excited to see what God is going to do through these two as they merge their lives and ministries into one.

So, anyway…I guess I’m just feeling content right now, and I wanted to share. I really do intend to blog more often (blah, blah, blah…I know you’ve heard that before). Just because pictures are usually more fun than words, though, here’s one from the session I’m currently editing. Tell me this face doesn’t make you smile, and I’ll call you a liar:

Gabrielle {infant}

You’ll remember Brook & Jeremy’s pictures we took out on the farm for their 5th wedding anniversary (okay, maybe you won’t remember, because they’re actually posted on mine & Jake’s personal blog…jakeanddiana.com). And then their maternity pictures. Well, their family is now a threesome, and I had the opportunity to meet little Gabrielle last weekend. Ohhhh my goodness. She’s SO sweet. I’m still working on finishing all of her pictures, Brook, but here are some of my favorites. She’s beautiful!

Ta-daa!!!

Welcome to the newly renovated dianabondurant.com! We didn’t give the site a COMPLETE overhaul (same color scheme, same basic feel), but we did make a few substantial changes. The first thing you’ll notice is that typing in the main site address brings you directly to the blog page. We decided that since the blog page is usually where most people end up anyway, we might as well just make it the front page. We’re trying to save you guys a few clicks. You’re welcome.

You’ll also notice beautiful Tabitha gracing the page header. Eventually, the header will rotate nicely through several of my favorite pictures, but that takes a little more work for us (okay…for Jake) to complete, and I didn’t want the site to be down any longer. There are also some annoying little bugs crawling around in the Galleries that are making them not work properly all the time. That will be fixed soon as well.

We’ll also be adding a pricing info page again, but until then feel free to email me with any questions.

In general we just tried to clean the look up and make it a little more streamlined. Let us know what you think!
